Ethically Sourced

Our Commitment

Here at Gecko Jewellery, making sure that our jewellery is ethically and sustainably sourced and produced has always been important to us. Here's more information on how we are continuing to work on practices across the business.

Responsible Jewellery Council

We are a certified member of the Responsible Jewellery Council. All of the materials used in our jewellery are ethically and responsibly sourced. The RJC is the global membership and standards body for responsible jewellery throughout the entire supply chain – from mine to retail.

Their ‘Code of Practice’ references key development frameworks, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, ILO Principles and UN Global Compact and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Selective Suppliers

We only use suppliers who align with our ethical practices and sustainability goals. Part of our sourcing methods are not just about the product, but what the suppliers are doing to sustain the planet – such as gifting Gecko with re-planted trees for the future.

Our suppliers also regularly update us with their future goals for improvement, which include increased renewable energy usage, staff wellbeing and reduction in virgin metals. All our designs are made to a high quality, ensuring they will last for generations.

Sustainable Packaging

As well as sourcing ethical jewellery, we are working on sustainable packaging for pouches and boxes. We now provide packaging made from recycled and recyclable materials for almost all our brands.
Our other packaging and POS materials are made to last and not be frequently thrown away, meaning less waste.

We are also expanding our use of compostable plastic grip bags to store our jewellery, reducing single-use plastic. On top of this, we have switched from bubble wrap to recyclable packing paper and swapped plastic tape for brown paper parcel tape.

Recycled Silver

Our recycled silver comes from a fully audited Chain of Custody supplier, providing evidence and certificates to prove it has come from recycled sources.

We are also proud to say that all our jewellery is approved by AnchorCert Protect meaning that our products are protected against all known metal allergens making them safe for your skin, even if you already have skin or metal allergies.

Despatch Directly to Your Customers

How Does It Work?

Our direct despatch service has been successfully operating since 2012, making it easier than ever for you to ship orders directly to your customers.
This means no more trips to the Post Office for you and the ability to offer your customers a next day delivery service.

Placing a Direct Despatch Order

You can place a direct despatch order with Gecko by emailing [email protected], speaking to your local area representative, or ordering via our website.

When ordering online, add your customer’s items to the basket. A pop up will ask whether to ship to you or directly to your customer. Choose This will be dispatched to my customer and continue shopping. There is no minimum order value for this service.

Missed the pop up or already selected delivery to your store? You can switch to direct despatch later at checkout.

If you have multiple direct despatch orders to place, submit a separate order for each delivery address. The basket cannot be split to multiple addresses at checkout.

Packing of Goods

All jewellery in a direct despatch order is removed from Gecko barcoded bags and placed into individual clear grip bags before being put into the packaging added to the order, or the branded packaging that accompanies the product.

No Gecko paperwork is enclosed, so your customer will not know it shipped from our warehouse. Invoices for direct despatch orders are posted separately to your invoicing address.

If you would like us to include your own delivery note or invoice, email it at the time of ordering to [email protected], clearly stating your online order details and Gecko account code so we can match it before packing. For multiple direct despatch orders, send a separate email for each order with the correct documents.

Postage and Fees

There is a handling charge of £3.00 per direct despatch order. This is included within the postage options at checkout and will not appear as a separate line on your invoice. The handling charge covers the additional packing described above.

At checkout, add your customer’s address and select a postage option:

  • UK 1st Class (1–2 working days) - not tracked and not insured. Gecko cannot accept responsibility for loss in transit and there is no way to track or prove delivery.
  • UK Economy (3–5 working days) - tracked but not insured. We will provide full tracking information.
  • UK Next Working Day (orders placed before 2 pm) - fully tracked and insured. If delivery fails, contact Customer Service and we will liaise with the courier and send a replacement where required.

Direct Despatch Returns

All returns from direct despatch orders should be handled by you in line with your own returns policy. Gecko will not contact your customers.

We will accept returns from account holders only where there is a manufacturing fault, or damage occurred prior to delivery to your customer. Customers must not return items directly to Gecko.

When returning an item to Gecko, include your Gecko account code, order date and invoice number, plus a note describing the fault and whether you would like a replacement sent to your customer or a credit note. Replacements and credits are at Gecko’s discretion.

Items that do not meet these requirements may be returned to you and a £5 handling charge may be applied.
